The Dirty Grass Players
Emerging from the storied bluegrass scene in Baltimore is the Dirty Grass Players, who with their recently released self-titled debut album, are keeping alive the rich tradition of progressive bluegrass. Their music straddles the gap between the traditional and the modern with an infectious, forward-thinking sound that can easily move from a simple, sweetly, picked tune into an adventurous, inspired jam. Their debut album, The Dirty Grass Players, is the perfect representation of this dynamic musical palate. The Dirty Grass Players, Ben Kolakowski (Guitar), Ryan Rogers (Mandolin), Colin Rappa (Bass), Alex Berman (Banjo), Alex Tocco (Violin) came together following a series of informal picking sessions in 2015 that eventually gave birth to the band. Since then the band has quickly garnered some serious attention winning the 2017 Charm City Bluegrass Festival Battle of the Band. They have also shared the stage with musical luminaries including Larry Keel, Donna the Buffalo, Fruition, and the Cris Jacobs Band and appeared at such festivals as Camp Bluegrass, Sleepy Creek Spring Dig, Great Folkgrass Happenstance, KarmaFest, and the Charm City Bluegrass Festival.
